The Single Outlet Box Extender is designed to ensure proper alignment of electrical outlets when installing garage slatwall panels over existing walls. When slatwall panels are mounted, the added panel thickness can recess electrical boxes behind the finished surface. This extender allows the electrical box components to be brought forward so that outlets and switches sit flush with the face of the slatwall.
Engineered for use in single-gang electrical box configurations, the extender fits within the existing wall box and provides the necessary depth adjustment to accommodate the slatwall panel thickness. This allows the outlet device and cover plate to be reinstalled securely on top of the slatwall surface without gaps or misalignment.
The Single Outlet Box Extender is especially useful when panels are cut to fit around electrical outlets during installation. By extending the box forward, it maintains proper device positioning and ensures the outlet faceplate sits cleanly and evenly against the finished slatwall wall surface. If done properly, the outlet faceplate can be used to cover and conceal any cut or unfinished slatwall edges around the outlet…often eliminating the need for additional trim finishing.

Really glad MKE offers this Outlet Box Extender ….it saved me a trip to the hardware store and made the install way easier. I had an outlet right in the middle of my project, and this helped pull it forward so it sits flush with the slatwall panels.
It also helps enclose and protect the outlet box inside the wall, especially since the slatwall shifts the outlet slightly from its original position. Once I installed it and put the faceplate back on, everything looked clean and professionally finished. Super simple to use, but absolutely essential if you run into an outlet during install.
